Omdesign wins Red Dot with Ramos Pinto package

It was officially presented, last Friday, at the Gala in Berlin, all winners of Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2015 and Omdesign was the only Portuguese company to win a Red Dot and to represent Portugal in the most prestigious international design competition.

The “design oscar” was given to the Ramos Pinto “RP10” packaging (a 10 year-old Tawny Port), in the “Packaging Design - Sustainable Packaging” category, created by the advertising agency of Leça da Palmeira. “RP10” displays now on its packaging the most worldwide desired design seal - the Red Dot -, which certifies it as “Winner Packaging Design 2015”.

This innovative packaging combines design and two important Portuguese clusters, the Port wine and cork, and exploits the unique properties of this 100% eco-friendly material, which gives a multifunctional character to this packaging. Actually, the two cork blocks not only protect the bottle but also serve as thermal insulation, having also other possible functions such as a pen holder, small items storage container or even as a flower vase.

Of the approximately 7,500 projects submitted in this edition, only 82 were selected as winners and can be seen in Berlin, as well as in international exhibitions, where Omdesign will represent Ramos Pinto brand and Portugal.

Furthermore, with this award, Omdesign already sums a total of 26 distinctions in international and national design and creativity competitions.
